Palazzo De Piro Cultural Centre celebrates ‘enthusiastic support” from Malta’s travel trade

Malta Independent Sunday, 8 April 2012, 00:00 Last update: about 14 years ago

The operators of the Palazzo de Piro Cultural Centre in Mdina, Infinitely Xara, held a reception for destination management companies (DMCs) on Friday evening, to celebrate the “incredible” level of support provided to Palazzo de Piro since it opened last year. DMCs help local and international clients to organise meetings, events, incentives and business functions, and Palazzo de Piro is quickly becoming one of the venues of choice for this important segment. Palazzo de Piro was opened in 2011 after extensive refurbishment and encompasses the Mdina Cathedral Museum Extension, Xpresso Café, a gift shop and function centre. In addition, Palazzo de Piro Cultural Centre is the venue for premier national artistic and heritage events and exhibitions.

DMC’s directors and their staff were entertained by classical guitarist Mark Rapa, accompanied by violin, with guests enjoying drinks, canapés and hot food tables prepared by the skilful Infinitely Xara brigade of chefs.

One of the highlights of the event was Infinitely Xara’s announcement of an extension to the project, which aims to open new perspectives for the local MICE industry, in the form of an expanded multi-purpose venue to be embedded in the existing site. Work is well under way, and Infinitely Xara Director Nicola Paris gave DMCs the opportunity to discover its vision for the future of the local MICE industry based on logistical excellence, exceptional settings and a results-based approach to clients’ needs. As the MICE industry changes, she explained, Infinitely Xara is evolving with it, bringing together the local expertise of various destination management companies within the framework of unique purpose-built settings operated by Infinitely Xara, as a highly efficient local operation.

DMCs had the opportunity to familiarise themselves further with the venue and to meet the Infinitely Xara team to learn more about what the operator and the Palazzo has to offer the industry in terms of creative solutions and logistical excellence.

Palazzo de Piro Cultural Centre offers a fully catered, state-of-the-art facility for events, meetings, small conferences, corporate dinners, private receptions, banquets and cultural activities from 10 people to 300. This unique multifunctional cultural centre in the heart of Mdina contains a beautiful courtyard and terraces that exude a wonderful sense of history, yet artfully combines all the contemporary qualities and comforts. A grand staircase leads to light and airy rooms with high, hand-painted ceilings and a beautiful rear terrace that looks out on to panoramic views. An enfilade of fine drawing rooms can be combined as a break-out area or pre-event space.

The talented brigade of chefs makes use of the fresh produce from nearby valleys and slopes when producing seasonal menus. Through close co-operation with local growers and producers, Palazzo de Piro Cultural Centre seeks to showcase the freshest and best the region has to offer through a menu of healthy modern Maltese dishes.

Meetings, dining and event packages are available from the Infinitely Xara team. For further information visit www.palazzodepiro.com or www.xarapalace.com.mt
