GO Plc gains 2.7%

On Thursday the Malta Stock Exchange Index dropped by a further 0.8 per cent and closed at 2,962.875 as four equities were negotiated across 21 deals for a total value of €55,361. Sixty-eight transactions for a total value of €8,573,900 were carried out during the day.

GO plc was the only positive performer and the most active during the day as its share price appreciated by 2.7 per cent and closed at €0.750 as 28,582 shares were negotiated across 10 deals.

On the other hand HSBC Bank Malta plc lost most ground as its share price dropped by 3.1 per cent and closed at €2.500 when 3,500 shares were negotiated across four deals.

The share price of Lombard Bank Malta plc dropped by 0.4 per cent and closed at €2.370 on a single deal of 6,064 shares.

The share price of Bank of Valletta plc remained stable at €2.120 as 5,100 shares changed hands across six deals.

In the corporate bond market five bonds were negotiated across 12 deals for a total value of €122,174. Two bonds were positive and three remained stable.

The 7.5% Mediterranean Investments Holding 2012/14 was the best performer as its price appreciated by 0.4 per cent and closed at €100.950 on a single deal of 2,000. The other positive bond was the 7% FIMBank 2012/19 which gained 0.01 per cent and closed at €102.750 on a single deal of 10,000.

In the government bond market nine bonds were negotiated, one was positive, six were negative and two remained stable. The 5.2% MGS 2031 was the only positive performer as its price gained 0.02 per cent and closed at €102.470 as 16 transactions were carried out for a total volume of 328,700. On the other hand the 5.25% MGS 2030 lost most ground as its price dropped by 0.1 per cent and closed at €103.040 on eight deals with a total volume of 150,900. The other negative bonds were the 7.8% MGS 2013, the 3.75% MGS 2015 VI, the 4.25% MGS 2017 III, the 7.8% MGS 2018 and the 5% MGS 2021.
