This week, GO upped the ante in the all-important mobile internet stakes by setting new speeds of up to 42Mbps, making it the fastest mobile internet provider in Malta, at least for the time being, made possible by a major overhaul of the 3G mobile network. This week’s speed increase was coupled by a glitzy advertising campaign.
Following a significant refurbishment process, GO’s base stations are linked to the network core and the internet via fibre, so customers benefit from super-fast links all the way from their mobile to the base station, as well as from the base station to the World Wide Web.
Speaking about GO’s superb mobile internet experience, Yiannos Michaelides, Chief Commercial Officer at GO said on Wednesday, “GO is the first telecommunications provider in Malta to actually offer the fastest speed up to 42Mbps delivering the best mobile internet experience to its customers across the country.
“GO now offers the best mobile internet experience on the island, backed by its well-established fixed internet service, which is constantly being improved through the on-going roll-out of fibre.”
GO also officially launched its new mobile internet campaign with the slogan: ‘Join the revolution’.
Mr Michaelides explains: “We are living in a changing world and mobile internet is changing people’s communications – indeed, a revolution that is changing our lives! And GO, as ever, has been at the forefront of change. We are the leaders in the market.”
He emphasised that GO has “been a key catalyst in the growth and development of essential services in the island – from telephony, be it fixed or mobile, to the internet and TV. Today, we are proud to be Malta’s leading quad-play provider – a brand that homes, businesses and individuals rely on every day. Our commitment is to continue to be so in the future.”
Talking about a new era for GO, Mr Michaelides referred to the €100 million that GO is investing in new infrastructure to strengthen its network with the ultimate aim of enhancing GO’s consumer experience.
To tempt consumers to ‘join the revolution’, GO is offering free mobile internet to all pay-as-you-go customers every time they top-up with €10 or more, and six months of free mobile internet for those buying a new Smartphone, choosing from a range of Smartphones starting from €99.
Free smartphones and free mobile internet are also available with Pay Monthly packages starting from €15 per month and the new iPad, the only device currently on the market capable of dealing with the maximum 42Mbps download speeds.
The company also unveiled advantageous mobile data plans to customers subscribed to its HomePack and other multiplay packages, as well as an innovative free mobile Wi-Fi device, that enables customers connectivity without subscribing to multiple data plans by providing connectivity to 10 simultaneous users at one go.
