Malta Showcased at expo in Milan

Around 50 international companies interested in investment opportunities were given details about Malta’s business environment and the country’s attractive offering at a conference organised by Malta Enterprise at the EIRE expo held in Milan.

With EIRE attracting some of the major stakeholders in the real estate and infrastructural projects industry in Europe, the companies took a particularly keen interest in Malta as a gateway to other neighbouring markets such as post-revolution Libya, which offers a myriad of opportunities within this industry as it goes through a reconstruction process.

Malta Enterprise’s chief officer for trade, investment and enterprise support Joe Schembri highlighted not only the country’s strategic location in the middle of the Euromed region, but also its cost-effective environment, the availability of a highly-skilled and multilingual workforce and the possibilities of doing business in North Africa through Malta.

The contributions by representatives from four companies based in Malta with investment in North Africa also caught the audience’s attention, as they gave their first-hand experience of Malta’s benefits and attractiveness for investors interested in that region.

Spread over an exhibition area of 35,000 square metres, the EIRE expo attracts around 15,000 visitors every year and is an ideal venue for international architects, project developers and investors in particular to learn about opportunities in the sector or to present their own projects.

Malta Enterprise had a stand at the three-day expo to actively promote Malta and the opportunities the country offers to prospective investors, with the staff manning the stand responding to numerous queries not only on the country’s advantageous business environment but also on the assistance and support available to facilitate investment.
