GO Plc gains a further 2.6%

During the week ending 22nd June 2012, the Malta Stock Exchange Index declined 0.4 per cent and closed at 3,051.442 points. Twelve equities were negotiated across 96 deals for a total value of €375,205. Two were positive, six were negative and four remained stable.

GO plc was the best performing and most active equity of the week as its share price appreciated by 2.6 per cent and closed at €1.180 when 136,216 shares were negotiated across 38 deals.

In the banking sector Bank of Valletta plc declined minimally to close the week at €2.069 when 35,509 shares changed hands across 24 deals. Meanwhile the share price of HSBC Bank Malta plc dropped by 0.8 per cent and closed at €2.500 on six deals with a total volume of 11,739 shares. The share price of Lombard Bank Malta plc traded flat at €2.200 on two deals with a total volume of 2,300 shares.

During this week the share price of Malta International Airport plc appreciated by 0.6 per cent and reached a new high of €1.780 when 18,900 shares were negotiated across eight deals.

The share price of Plaza Centres plc is still readjusting itself slowly to its pre-split level. This week, four deals with a total volume of 10,999 shares, led to a drop of 13.1 per cent in the share price, which closed at €0.600.

Two deals with a total volume of 3,161 shares led to a drop of 1.6 per cent in the share price of MaltaPost plc which closed at €0.905. The share price of Middlesea Insurance plc remained steady on two deals with a total volume of 1,824 shares and closed at €0.630. MIDI plc saw its share price drop by 1.5 per cent and close at a new low of €0.330 on three deals with a total volume of 14,500 shares. Two deals with a total volume of just 600 shares led to a drop of 0.1 per cent in the share price of Island Hotels Group plc which reached a new low and closed at €0.849.

Meanwhile the share prices of Medserv plc and RS2 Software plc remained stable at €3.950 and €0.500 respectively.
