Wirt iż-Żejtun has recently been busy preparing a digital archive for its website. This is the first archive of its type in Malta and the association is grateful for the support it has received from Żejtun parish church, the two band clubs, Għaqda ta’ l-Armar 25 ta’ Novembru and Għaqda tan-Nar 25 ta’ Novembru for believing in the project and granting permission for their historical material to be published.

The digital archive consists of 470 articles related to the history of Żejtun and published in 95 books produced by the parish church, the Beland Band Club, the Żejtun Band Club, the Għaqda ta’ l-Armar 25 ta’ Novembru and the Għaqda tan-Nar 25 ta’ Novembru for the feast of St Catherine in the last 30 years. These articles are the work of 79 different authors and are presented in 14 different categories.

Both the English and the Maltese versions of the archive can be accessed from the association’s website by clicking on the icon found on the homepage or directly by clicking on this link http://wirtizżejtunartikli.wordpress.com/ The viewer will be directed to a new portal with a white background.

Once in this portal, the viewer can search the archive by various means, as the articles are stored by author; by subject; by publication and by year of publication. In the main portal there is more detailed guidance on how to use this archive.

The archive will serve as a very useful tool for students and all those interested in knowing more about the heritage and history of Żejtun.
