Victoria, A Portrait Of a City

Malta Independent Sunday, 8 July 2012, 00:00 Last update: about 12 years ago

This year is the 125th anniversary of the city of Victoria and the Victoria local council is commemorating the conferment of the title of city to the Citadel and its suburb Rabat. As part of the celebrations the council decided that instead of a monument, it commissioned a book about the city, its history and cultural traditions.

The 31x22cm book with its 256 pages, more than 40,000 words, 300 references and 500 photographs, vividly describes the story of the town and its people from the first human settlement in the Neolithic Period till the present times.

Victoria, A Portrait of a City was written by Dr Joseph Bezzina, edited by Fr Charles Cini SDB, with photography and design by Daniel Cilia. An edition of the book was also done in Italian, entitled Victoria, Ritratto di una Citta.
