Malta Independent Friday, 13 July 2012, 00:00 Last update: about 15 years ago

BOV is supporting the Maltese Diabetes Association in an event aimed at promoting awareness on this ever-increasing condition which affects thousands of people. The aim of the Association is to pursue education campaigns and prevent complications arising from this condition. This lifelong condition presently affects around 55 million people in Europe.

Vanessa Borg from Marketing at BOV met Chris J. Delicata, Vice President and Treasurer of The Maltese Diabetes Association. “Statistics show that there are a substantial number of people who are affected by this condition and who are unaware of this. The Association’s mission is to further educate people in this regard, particularly to reduce the complications arising from it. BOV wholly supports this initiative and applauds the work done by this association,” Ms Borg said.

In appreciation for the Bank’s support, Chris J. Delicata spoke of the association’s involvement in society. “Currently led by a team of dedicated persons who either have diabetes themselves or are parents of affected children, the Association’s scope is to keep up to date with developments that have taken place in the world of science in relation to this condition. We thank the Bank for its contribution and belief in our Association.”

The Malta Diabetes Association also offers family support to relatives of people suffering with diabetes, organises monthly talks as well as offers reduced prices for diabetes-related products.
