HSBC Bank Malta Plc only positive performer of session

On Friday the Malta Stock Exchange Index appreciated by 0.5% and closed at the 3,090.258 level as five equities were negotiated across 47 deals for a total value of €196,163.

HSBC Bank Malta plc was the only positive performer of the session as its price gained 3.6% or €0.100c and closed at €2.850 when ten transactions were carried out for a total volume of 17,500 shares.

On the other hand RS2 Software plc lost most ground as its price dropped by 4% or €0.020c and closed at €0.480 when 8,233 shares changed hands across three deals.

Meanwhile Bank of Valletta plc was the most active equity as 69,573 shares were negotiated across 31 transactions leading to a drop of 2.4 per cent or €0.050c in the share price which closed at €2.000.

The share prices of Lombard Bank Malta plc and International Hotel Investments plc remained stable at €2.180 and €0.850.

In the corporate bond market seven bonds were negotiated across nine deals. Five remained stable and two were positive. The 7% FIMBank 2012/19 appreciated by 0.5% and closed at $101.50 on a single deal of 10,700. The 7.15% Melita Capital 2014/16 appreciated by 0.4% and closed at €103.00 on a single deal of 900.

In the government bond market 11 bonds were negotiated across 22 deals. The 6.4% MGS 2014 II, the 5.1% MGS 2014 III, the 4.6% MGS 2020, the 4.3% MGS 2022 II – Retail Fungibility Issue, the 5.1% MGS 2029 I – Retail and the 5.25% MGS 2030 appreciated by 0.1% respectively. The other traded bonds increased marginally in price and were the 4.25% MGS 2017 III, the 7.8% MGS 2018, the 5% MGS 2021, the 5.1% MGS 2022 and the 5.2% MGS 2031.
