Malta Independent Sunday, 22 July 2012, 00:00 Last update: about 14 years ago

The Classic Group will be representing Malta as a national finalist at the prestigious 2012/13 European Business Awards. The Group, which is home to Classic Jewellers, Diamonds International and the recently launched Hebe, overcame stiff competition from a number of local organisations to now compete in the finals of the Awards next April.

Classic Group chairman Paul Fenech said: “We are delighted to have been shortlisted from so many successful Maltese companies. It is indeed an honour to be recognised as one of the leading organisations in our country and in our sector. We have managed to achieve this status due to our commitment to offer superior customer service backed by genuine and expert advice. Throughout the past year we have also undergone an ambitious management restructuring process thereby creating a leaner organisational structure where decisions are taken in a shorter time. This restructuring has also helped us consolidate our efforts and create a company that can rise to the challenges of the present market conditions”.

Mr Fenech added: “The Awards have identified some of Europe’s brightest businesses, based on their ability to demonstrate the three core principles at the heart of the Awards programme: innovation, business excellence and sustainability. These three principles, together with our employees, are also core to our organisation”.

The aim of the European Business Awards is to raise the visibility and progress of companies that excel in delivering innovation along with successful commercial results, acting responsibly and positively affecting the social environment in which they operate. The 2011 European Business Awards showcased organisations with a combined turnover of €1 trillion and employing over 2.7 million people across the continent.

European Business Awards CEO Adrian Tripp said “Over the past six years, we have received an incredibly high standard of entries from organisations that are passionate about their business. However, very few get the chance to fly the flag for their country and compete across Europe to be recognised as one of Europe’s leading companies. It really is an exceptional accolade to be picked as a national finalist and, together with our sponsors and supporters, we are looking forward to seeing Classic Group in the next round”.
