Networking with their female European entrepreneurs was the scope of an innovative videoconference organised by the Malta Business Bureau, as a project partner of the ‘Ambassadors in Malta for Increasing women Entrepreneurs’ (AMIE) Project held on 25 July.
The conference served as a networking exercise for the AMIE Consortium and Ambassadors, together with project counterparts in Italy, Greece, Croatia and Sweden.
MBB project manager Mariella Scicluna moderated the conference and explained how MBB’s strategic partnership within the AMIE Consortium is intended to leverage the local efforts on an EU level. “It is important for us to focus on the synergistic efforts of the Network of Women Ambassadors, in order to ensure a positive interaction and a smooth interface between the Network of Ambassadors in Malta with the Network of Ambassadors in participating EU member states. The idea of hosting an international videoconference was intended to create an excellent opportunity for our Consortium and Ambassadors to discuss matters concerning female entrepreneurship around Europe and to look into a way forward, to continue developing such a positive project.”
Project Coordinator Maryrose Francica emphasised the fact that this project has grown substantially over the past months. This was apparent from the success of the AMIE activities organised throughout the past 19 months, inspiring students, employed and unemployed women to create a vision for themselves as entrepreneurs, as well as providing the motivation and self-confidence required to set up and create a successful business. She added that in the coming months further workshops with guidance teachers and business studies teachers will be held to promote entrepreneurship as a career option.
The international actors involved in this conference provided their own feedback, and explained how their Female Entrepreneurship projects developed in their country, sharing and highlighting best practices. Ambassadors from Croatia, Italy, Greece and Sweden provided an excellent discussion platform, as they could compare notes on similar problems and outcomes. As a result of this videoconference, the participating ambassadors agreed that such positive projects need to be further developed and a decision was taken for a joint proposal to be put forward to the European Commission to continue support for the continuation of such positive initiatives.
