His Excellency Jim Hennessy visited the Malta Stock Exchange last week and met Dr Arthur Galea Salomone, chairman of the Malta Stock Exchange, as well as senior members of the Exchange’s management. Mr Hennessy toured the Exchange and was given an overview of the various services available to issuers and investors.

The Maltese and Irish Stock Exchanges have had a close working relationship for the past 20 years culminating in the recently launched European Wholesale Securities Market (EWSM). Besides EWSM, matters of mutual interest were discussed including internationalisation initiatives and other possibilities to drive new business for both Stock Exchanges. MSE now uses the Xetra trading system, which is also used by the Irish Stock Exchange among other international exchanges.
