On Friday the Malta Stock Exchange Index appreciated by 0.1% and closed at the 3,049.279 level, when five equities were negotiated across 26 deals. Bank of Valletta plc was the only positive performer of the session as its share price appreciated by 0.9% and closed at 2.220 when 17,771 shares were negotiated across eight deals.
Lombard Bank Malta plc lost most ground as its share price dropped by 2.4% and closed at €2.000 when 5,980 shares were negotiated across four deals.
GO plc was also negative as its price dropped by 1% and closed at €0.990 when 35,420 shares were negotiated across nine deals.
The share prices of HSBC Bank Malta plc and RS2 Software plc remained stable at €2.640 and €0.500 respectively.
In the corporate bond market five bonds were negotiated across eight deals. One was negative and four remained stable. The 4.25% Bank of Valletta 2020 was the only bond which registered a change in price as it dropped by 0.01% and closed at €101.00 on two deals with a total volume of 32,000.
In the government bond market 11 bonds were negotiated across 35 deals. The 5.1% MGS 2022 was the best performer of the session as its price appreciated by 0.6% and closed at €109.27 on two deals with a total volume of 7,801. The other positive bonds were the 6.65% MGS 2016, 4.25% MGS 2017 III, 4.6% MGS 2020, the 5% MGS 2021, the 4.3% MGS 2022 II, 4.3% MGS 2022 II – Retail Fungibility Issue, the 5.1% MGS 2029 I – Retail, the 5.25% MGS 2030, the 5.2% MGS 2031. The 6.35% MGS 2013 II was the only negative performer as it dropped by 0.09% and closed at €103.55 on a single deal of 8,153.
