BOV Pushes index up by 0.2% as it is the only positive performer of the session

The Malta Stock Exchange Index appreciated by 0.25% and closed at 3,090.469 points as three equities were negotiated across 11 deals for a total value of €34,681 yesterday.

Bank of Valletta plc was the only positive performer of the session as its share price appreciated by 1.3% and closed at €2.290 when 12,462 shares were negotiated across eight deals.

On the other hand, Lombard Bank Malta plc was the only negative performer as its share price dropped by 2% and closed at €1.950 in two deals with a total volume of just 574 shares.

Meanwhile, the share price of HSBC Bank Malta plc remained stable at €2.750 on a single deal of 1,900 shares.

In the corporate bond market, 14 bonds were negotiated across 20 deals. Six were positive, three were negative and five remained stable. The 4.8% Bank of Valletta 2020 was the best performer of the session as its price appreciated by 1.7% and closed at €103.00 in three deals with a total volume of 9,500. The other positive bonds for the day were the 7.5% Mediterranean Investments Holding 2015, the 4.6% HSBC Bank Malta 2017, the 7.15% Mediterranean Investments Holding 2015/17, the 5.9% HSBC Bank Malta 2018 and the 7% FIMBank 2012/19.

The 5.35% Bank of Valletta 2019 lost most ground during the session as its price dropped by 0.4% and closed at €105.00 on a single deal of 11,900. The other negative bonds were the 7% FIMBank 2012/19 and the 6% Simonds Farsons Cisk 2017/20.

In the government bond market, nine bonds were negotiated across 15 deals. Three were positive, five were negative and one remained stable. The 5.1% MGS 2029 I – Retail was the best performer of the session as its price gained 0.1% on two deals with a total volume of 30,000. The other positive bonds were the 4.8% MGS 2016 II and the 6.6% MGS 2019.

On the other hand, the 7.8% MGS 2013 and the 5% MGS 2021 lost most ground as their prices dropped by 0.1% respectively. The other negative bonds were the 6.35% MGS 2013 II, the 4.6% MGS 2020 and the 4.3% MGS 2022 II.
