Malta-based Tipico has become the first i-Gaming company to be awarded the much sought-after TÜV-certificate for data security and data protection. Being a provider of sports betting and casino services requires the handling of particularly sensitive information such as customer data and game contents. As such, the appropriate protection of information is an important asset and one of Tipico’s core business targets.

The official certificate was awarded to Tipico during a small celebration held last month in the company’s head office in Portomaso Business Tower.

Tipico implements appropriate measures in order to permanently guarantee the highest level of data protection and security possible and thereby confirming the trust that the customers placed in the company. In 2012, Tipico’s data protection made a quantum leap with the implementation of an Information Security Management System (ISMS) in close collaboration with and permanent assistance from TÜV Rheinland i-sec GmbH.

Tipico’s ISMS complies with the requirements of the international standard ISO/IEC 27001:2005 and is continuously assessed, monitored and improved when required. A preliminary exercise was carried out by auditors of TÜV Rheinland to determine which procedures the company was adopting. This was followed by training for all employees and documentation checks. Finally, on-site checks regarding the measurements’ implementation took place in all departments and the audition team subsequently concluded that Tipico and its employees met all expectations, down to the last detail. The final results were forwarded to the Certification Commission accompanied by a recommendation to award Tipico the much sought-after TÜV-certificate.
