FIMBank staff members recently paid a courtesy visit to President George Abela at San Anton Palace. During their visit, the Bank’s Chairman, Dr John C. Grech, presented President Abela with a €10,000 donation by FIMBank towards the Malta Community Chest Fund.

In a brief address, President Abela referred to the fact that Malta offers the right conditions for companies in the financial services to set up shop in Malta, a factor which led to the rapid and successful development of this industry in Malta.  The President pointed out that FIMBank was “one of the first to recognize the advantages available in Malta as regards financial services” and since its inception in 1994, the FIMBank Group has been “in the forefront of introducing new products, ideas and structures to trade finance globally”.

Dr Grech traced the history of FIMBank ever since it established its global head office in Malta. The FIMBank Chairman emphasised the strong bond between the Group and Malta, stating that:  “At FIMBank we all acknowledge how fortunate we are that the Group is based in Malta, and the underlying aim of our Corporate Social Responsibility programme remains that of giving something back to the local community”.
