Bank of Valletta has won a prestigious award for its cutting-edge internet banking service, achieving top ranking as both the “ Best Consumer” and the “Best Corporate Internet Bank” in Malta in the 2012 Global Finance Awards.
BOV Chief Executive Officer Charles Borg said, “This is truly an impressive achievement for us – and one we are very proud of. Bank of Valletta has invested heavily in multi-channel distribution. Our 24x7 channels enable our customers to do their banking over the internet no matter where they are. We were proud to be the first bank in Malta to introduce this service, and to have consistently remained the market leader, being the first to offer mobile banking earlier this year.”
“This is all part of our vision to remain a bank which puts customer convenience, first and foremost, in line with our brand promise.” Said Mr Borg
Winners of this award were chosen among entries evaluated by a world-class panel of judges at Infosys. Global Finance editors were responsible for the final selection of winners in the First Round. The award is based on the following criteria: strength of strategy for attracting and servicing online customers, success in getting clients to use web offerings, growth of online customers, breadth of product offerings, evidence of tangible benefits gained from Internet initiatives, and web site design and functionality. The Regional and Global winners for these categories will be announced at an Awards Ceremony in New York in November.
“ The Internet has transformed the way many consumers and most businesses bank”, said Joseph D. Giarraputo, publisher of Global Finance. “The continuing improvements in Internet offerings represented by this year’s entries show that more significant Internet banking developments are still ahead of us.”
Bank of Valletta made a substantial investment in setting up the most robust IT platform with the aim of being supportive to its customers by offering added value. Bank of Valletta is delighted to become the first Bank in Malta to respond to changing customer preferences and to launch the mobile customer preposition branded as the BOV Mobile.
