Malta and Kosovo signed an Agreement on Readmission of Persons Residing without Authorisation at the Embassy of Malta in Vienna on Wednesday 21 November. The agreement, which is the first concluded between Malta and Kosovo, was signed by the Ambassador of Malta to Kosovo, Colin Scicluna, who is resident in Vienna, and the Ambassador of Kosovo to Austria, Sabri Kiqmari.
This agreement is another step in the strengthening of Malta’s international legal framework and it furthers the Government’s commitment in addressing the challenges of illegal immigration.
After the ceremony, the two Ambassadors discussed bilateral relations, including Kosovo’s interest to emulate Malta’s economic and administrative model, in view of its aspiration to join the European Union. They also discussed the situation in the Western Balkans, especially the Pristina-Belgrade dialogue which is being held under the aegis of the EU.
