Air Malta appointed the official carrier of the European Film Awards

Air Malta has been appointed the Official Carrier of the prestigious European Film Awards, held last Saturday, 1 December at the Mediterranean Conference Centre in Valletta.

This year's edition of the European Film Awards is an important milestone since the organisers were celebrating the awards' silver jubilee since the first edition was held in Berlin on 26 November 1988.

Around 650 international guests including nominees for the awards, EFA members, international sponsors and partners flew on Air Malta to attend this important event.

Some 10 TV crew and over 100 journalists also flew to Malta to cover and promote the awards worldwide. A good number of local and international photographers were also present to photograph the distinguished guests.

Commenting on Air Malta's involvement in the EFA, Philip Saunders, Chief Commercial Officer said: "As the Official Carrier of this renowned event, Air Malta is actively flying in guests to Malta on its scheduled services from major European gateways especially from German airports. We, at Air Malta feel privileged to be associated with such a high-profile event that will promote the Maltese islands abroad."

The awards ceremony takes place in Berlin every second year. In the other years the Awards have travelled to London, Paris, Rome, Barcelona, Warsaw, Copenhagen, Tallinn and for the 25th edition to Malta.

The 2012 nominations were announced at the Seville European Film Festival at the beginning of November.
