The 44th EUCEN conference was held at the University of Malta, Valletta Campus, between 7-9 November. Coordinated by Professor Carmel Borg from the Department of Education Studies, University of Malta, the conference addressed the intersection of four themes – access, border-crossing, collaboration and migration – with Higher Education.

The four themes provided the backdrop for exchange of ideas around ongoing projects undertaken by EUCEN members. They also served as generative themes for intellectual exchanges on how the current, global economy, educational legislations and reforms are impacting on equitable access to Higher Education. In addition, participants examined how migration patterns and later life are challenging thinking and lifelong-learning provision in Higher Education.

The opening ceremony was held at the Presidential Palace, Valletta. The conference  was officially opened by President George Abela.

The proceedings consisted of  four keynote speeches, two plenary report presentations, 10 panel and seven poster presentations, as well as a network session.

EUCEN, the European Association for University Lifelong Learning, is the largest European multidisciplinary Association in University Lifelong Learning.

EUCEN was founded in 1991. It is registered in Belgium as an international non-governmental non-profit making organisation and has 222 members from 43 different countries.
