Mark Selby's recent domination of snooker came to an end when he was beaten 5-1 by Barry Hawkins in the quarter-finals of the German Masters in Berlin.

Hawkins, world No 17, was in inspired form, as he booked a semi-final against Hong Kong's Marco Fu, who beat Matthew Stevens 5-3.

Selby won the UK Championship in York before Christmas, and then the Masters at Alexandra Palace last month, but he won't be going home with this prize.

The other semi-final on Saturday will be between Neil Robertson and Ali Carter.

Robertson, the 2010 world champion, beat 2005 Crucible winner Shaun Murphy in a fine match. Murphy was 4-2 behind, but drew level with breaks of 107 and 133, before the Australian won a decider.

Carter was a more comfortable winner, beating Michael Holt 5-2.
