Salesman slashed in the face after catching thief red handed

A man has been arrested by the police after allegedly slashing a shop assistant in the face on Friday.

The victim, a 34-year-old employee at Al Medina Cash & Carry was found lying on the ground in front of the shop in Col Savona Street, Gzira.

The incident happened at around 2.15pm when the employee caught the thief red handed and asked him to return the stolen items.

According to the employee the thief refused and slashed his face with a knife. The victim is still in hospital but is not in a critical condition.
