Malta Independent Thursday, 25 April 2013, 15:46 Last update: about 12 years ago

Air Malta has successfully concluded a dry lease agreement for the provision of an Airbus A319 aircraft to Atlantic Airways of the Faroe Islands for a period of 41 months.

This agreement follows months of intensive discussions with several airlines following the return of the leased aircraft from OLT Express’.

With this lease Air Malta will be operating a ten aircraft fleet thus meeting the required capacity under the terms of its Restructuring Plan approved by the European Commission.

The aircraft will join Atlantic Airways’ four aircraft fleet and will operate from its base at Vágar Airport to airports in Denmark, UK, Spain, Norway and Iceland as well as other tourist destinations that will be added on by the airline.

This lease will start in early May. The aircraft (9H-AEJ) will be deregistered from the Maltese aircraft register and will be given the new registration of OY-RCH. Atlantic Airways is the national airline of the Faroe Islands, operating domestic helicopter services and international passenger services as well as search and rescue responsibilities from its base airport on Vágar island.
