A 35-year old man from Santa Lucia had part of his tongue bitten after he tried to force a 29-year old woman from Nepal to kiss him as he attacked her after following her in Msida on Saturday.

Crispin Grima pleaded guilty and was sentenced to four months in prison suspended for a year.

The man admitted he was drunk and not capable of taking care of himself. When replying to questions by the court Grima could not speak clearly because of the injuries to his tongue.

Shanti Shrestha Achhami went to report the ordeal at the Msida Police Station stating that at around 3.15am while she was returning home from work she was attacked by an unknown man.

She said that while she was walking up Testaferrata Street, the man shouted “Aw Sabiha” (Hello beautiful), but she kept walking. All of a sudden the man tried to touch her and she pushed him, and then he grabbed her from her throat and tried to kiss her forcefully. Whilst trying to put his tongue into her mouth, she bit him and cut a piece, spitting it out.

The Nepalese woman started calling out for help and was helped by another woman as the aggressor fled.

The man sought medical assistance at Mater Dei Hospital and was later arrested by the police.

Dr. Giannella Demarco and Dr. Gianliuca Caruana Curran appeared for Crispin Grima while Inspector Jason Francis  Sultana prosecuted.
