Following the 49th Annual General Meeting, the MIM Council unanimously confirmed Reuben Buttigieg as President of the Malta Institute of Management. Hector Spiteri was appointed as Vice President, Nadia Pace as Hon Secretary, Dunstan Magro as Hon Treasurer and Marika Huber as Public Relations Officer. The other council members are Edward Firman, Joe Cortis, Lawrence Mizzi, Robert M Cachia and Alfred Mifsud.
This year is an important milestone for the Institute as it celebrates Its 50th anniversary. The importance of this event is being addressed by the MIM under its strategy document entitled “ Consolidating our Origins”. In his opening speech Reuben Buttigieg said that under this Presidency, the Institute, is committed more than ever before to ensuring Education is accessible to all in different forms and to collaborate with other organisations including Government to ensure that the Maltese economy has the adequate resource to have a sustainable growth. The MIM calls again for a National Economic Plan which to date , in spite of various calls, does not exist.
This Presidency will build further on the internationalization of MIM. In fact Higher investment will be done on its e-learning platform, on the international Conferences, on its international missions, on its international collaborations and representations and also on its pioneering project Knowledge Malta.
MIM is committed to benefit from the expertise of its past presidents and members whilst encouraging dynamism through the involvement of younger ones. MIM agrees with the call Minister Hon Prof Edward Scicluna for the Malta Economy to diversify. Indeed, MIM was since its inception a catalyst in promoting areas on which Malta should focus.
