The maximum temperature reached so far today is 35 degrees Celsius. The maximum temperature for tomorrow Friday 21 and Saturday 22 June might hover around 34 and 35 degrees Celsius.
The Malta Airport Met Office is expecting the weather to start cooling down a bit to normal temperatures for the last week of June, i.e. average maximum of around 30 degrees Celsius. The Met Office is also forecasting that the north/ north-westerly winds should keep temperatures within the maximum range of 29-30 degrees Celsius.
The definition recommended by the World Meteorological Organization for a heat wave is when the daily maximum temperature of more than five consecutive days exceeds the average maximum temperature by 5 degrees Celsius.
