Court fines wooden bench vandals

A 20-year-old man who works as an apprentice plumber in Malta - Havez Benjamin Bernard - and a English-language student - Fontaine Alexis Marius Jean today admitted in court to having damaged a bench to the detriment of the St Julian’s local council.

A court heard how one of the two youths ripped apart the wooden bench to use the wooden strips as fire wood for a barbeque while the other said he needed the wood to fix his bed.

The two were jointly fined a total of €370.

 

Earlier

The two foreigners were arrested minutes after an anonymous report was made to police regarding a bench being vandalised at about 5 a.m. this morning in Triq Dragonara, St Julians.

Police said that district police spotted two foreign youths fitting the description given by the anonymous caller. They were found to be carrying parts of the wooden bench.
