FELTOM supports proposal to increase drinking age to 18

Malta Independent Wednesday, 21 August 2013, 08:38 Last update: about 12 years ago

The Federation of English Language Teaching Organisations in Malta (FELTOM) agrees with the proposal put forward by the Children’s Commissioner to increase drinking age threshold to 18 years.

FELTOM has long argued that increasing the safety of minors should always be a priority. Increasing the drinking age threshold to 18 years is therefore a step in the right direction

Throughout the years, FELTOM has taken a number of initiatives to limit the accessibility of minors studying in English in Malta to alcohol at events.  To this end, FELTOM organises weekly non-alcoholic events at venues away from Paceville.  These events are very well received by the students themselves.

FELTOM will be supporting this proposal in the various fora it actively participates in.
