Chris Cardona, Minister for the Economy, Investment and Small Business, inaugurated the new Malta offices of Sovereign Trust (Malta) Ltd. which will now make part of a network of 26 offices that the Sovereign Group have established worldwide.

Dr Cardona discussed the business prospects and the growth Sovereign Trust (Malta) Ltd expects to experience over the next years, with the company’s managing director, Stephen Griffiths. Mr Griffiths said that the company’s business has been growing exponentially, especially in the pension’s scheme sector, and this will lead to the recruitment of more employees over the next year.

Dr Cardona described Malta as a centre of excellence in financial services and a robust and highly specialised base for investment. He said that the government’s strategy is based on one essential ingredient: the highly educated and talented workforce in the professions.

Dr Cardona referred to the Global Residence Programme and the Individual Investors Programme as some of the initiatives the government is taking to assist the growth of the Maltese economy.
