Hilton Malta employees bid farewell to General Manager Clement Hassid at a retirement party thrown in his honour at the Portomaso Suite, Hilton last week.
The event was attended by local and international Heads of Management, the Fenech family, esteemed clientele and close friends. As a special surprise, the theme of the event featured elements from Mr Hassid’s personal life, hobbies and personal collections, as well as farewell messages and video clips from his nearest and dearest. George Curmi ‘il-Puse’ entertained guests throughout the evening.
In the course of his eight-year tenure at the helm of Malta’s leading hotel, Mr Hassid was instrumental in leading the Hilton to the forefront of the industry. A merit which he recognises would not have been made possible without “the strength, commitment and passion of each and every Hilton employee”. His retirement party marked the end of a 47-year career in the hospitality business.
Mr Hassid paid special tribute to, Hilton, George Fenech, directors and department heads and each and every one of his team members for making his life in Malta and at the hotel an enjoyable experience. He went on to wish his successor Matthew Mullan continued success and good luck.
In the meantime, the Hilton has announced the appointment of Matthew Mullan as the new General Manager. Mr. Mullan comes to Malta from the Hilton Barbados Resort where he was General Manager for the past four years. Matthew has been with Hilton Worldwide for more than twenty five years having joined the company as a trainee back in 1988, a career that has taken him to various parts of the United Kingdom, Egypt, Barbados and now Malta. He relocates to Hilton Malta with his wife Audrey and thirteen year old son Ciaran.
"I'm thrilled to join such a wonderful team at Hilton Malta. I look forward to leading this very successful team and to achieving even greater successes over the coming years. Hilton Malta stands out as one of the leading hotels in our region and I am very proud to be appointed to this exciting and rewarding role. My family is also delighted to be here on this spectacular island and already feels at home”.
