Yesterday evening the new Betsson building in Ta' Xbiex named the Betsson Experience Centre was inaugurated.
The event hosted by Betsson Group CEO Ulrik Bengtsson, was marked by an evening of celebrations organised at the Betsson building itself and later spilling over into a marquee built purposely for the event, across the road from the building on Ta Xbiex Seafront.
The new Betsson o?ces were christened in style as a number of dignitaries attended the event including Finance Minister, Hon. Prof. Edward Scicluna and Education & Employment Minister, Hon. Evarist Bartolo. Pontus Lindwall one of the original founders of Betsson, now Chairman at Betsson AB, Magnus Silverberg CEO of Betsson AB and representatives from the Lotteries & Gaming Authority were also present.
Mr. Bengtsson opened the evening with a short welcoming speech, and was later joined by the Minister of Finance, and together they officially inaugurated the building. The assembly was shown a brief video about the history of Betsson and a tour around the building soon followed. The Minister made observations about the investment and the hard work that went into the development of the building.
The Betsson Experience Centre is an important landmark in the journey of Betsson Group; the investment and planning behind the beautiful spaces of this new 8 storey building are a testimony to the Company's commitment to its employees, to the island of Malta and also to the strong Company Culture that is in constant evolution.
The employees and the management at Betsson later joined the party in the marquee which turned out to be an entertaining evening including a special appearance by pop band Icona Pop; ?own to Malta purposely to enhance the celebration of a new chapter in the Betsson story.
The Group has invested heavily in its Malta presence and will continue to do so for the foreseeable future; the building cost approximately €5.5 million to complete. Before embarking on the project to construct the Betsson building, the team was spread over 3 o?ces, all of which are now working from this new building overlooking the beautiful ta' Xbiex marina where the views are breathtaking.
Betsson is today the largest iGaming company in Malta. It has seen rapid growth since opening its ?rst Malta o?ce in 2005 with only 30 employees. Today Betsson employs almost 600 people in Malta, making a total of 1000 employees in its o?ces around the world. The new building has plenty of room for growth and has been built with the team's future requirements in mind.
Betsson's growth continues and so does its contribution to the local economy. iGaming brings in 12% of the Maltese GDP with Betsson being the strongest contributor.
