The Nationalist Party said yesterday it has again complained about the imbalance and persistent manipulation in public broadcaster TVM’s news, in this case about the news bulletin of last Tuesday.
The PN said the PBS newsroom is regularly pushing the government’s agenda with long stories, the news and by repeating the messages the government wants to convey in news services.
On the other hand, the Opposition is being stifled through dry stories drawn up purposely so that their message would be cancelled through other news. This all becomes clear in comparing the main story about the sale of Enemalta shares in the news bulletin of last Tuesday, and the reporting of the news conference by the Leader of the Opposition in which he analysed the year of Labour government, the PN said.
The PBS is also regularly carrying statements by the Labour Party to reply to what the Opposition would have said on the workings of the government. It was clear that the PBS newsroom, like the Labour Party, is not distinguishing between party and government, and is allowing the Labour Party to speak on behalf of the government.
