Mosta and Sliema took a point apiece, when they drew 1-1 in a balanced match.

Although both teams played with 10 men for most of the game, both teams kept fighting till the end to claim maximum points with Mosta being more adventurous in the second half.

Their Italian coach Piccioni retained the same 11 who drew with Valletta earlier in the week.

The first minutes was a study for both teams with good possession until the 11th minute when Mosta were reduced to 10 men when Tyrone Farrugia fouled Stanley Ohawuchi near the edge of the box and referee Marco Borg had no other option but to give him marching orders.

Piccioni made a change to re-shape his team when included Carrozza instead of promising youngster Kurt Zammit. Sliema didn’t take advantage of the numerical superiority when on the 18th minute Admir Vladavic was shown the second yellow card after a second foul on Ekani.

With both teams playing with 10 men, there was more space and the first shot arrived on the 18th minute - a low effort by Muchardi finished wide.

Mosta replied on the 22nd minute when Ian Zammit had a shot deflected that finished a bit wide.

Sliema had their best action of the first half on the 30th minute when Mark Scerri laid a diagonal pass to Stanley Ohawuchi but his shot on the run gave only the illusion of a goal.

Sliema took the lead on the 33rd minute when from a free-kick by Trevor Cilia Stanley Ohawuchi headed past Omar Borg. Mosta’s reply came on the 37th minute when Kaljevic made a good run from the left, advanced, but his shot went over the bar. A minute later Ohawuchi came close to his second goal but his personal action finished with a shot that went centimetres wide. On the 43rd minute  shot by Trevor Cilia finished over the bar.

The first shot of the second half came on the 51st minute with a shot from outside the box by Mano Micallef that finished wide. Mosta equalised on the 54th minute when from a free-kick, Carrozza crossed to Manolito Micallef who headed past Henry Bonello.

Sliema went close on the 66th minute when Omar Borg saved a shot from Trevor Cilia from close range.

Mosta replied on the 70th minute when a shot by Ian Zammit was deflected but also finished on the crossbar. Trevor Cilia again went close on the 82nd minute but his powerful shot was parried by Omar Borg.
