During the month of May, museum curators, staff and visitors are invited to visit their favourite museums in Malta and Gozo and snap selfies with an artefact of their choice.
‘My Selfie –My Cultural Identity’ is an initiative organised by ICOM-Malta on the occasion of International Museum Day, which this year carries the theme ‘Museum Collections Make Connections’. This project is aimed at raising awareness of the wonderful collections housed in museums across the island.

The competition is open to people of all ages and participants are being asked to submit their selfies on a specially-set up Facebook page entitled ‘My Selfie –My Cultural Identity’, and to caption the photo with a simple sentence explaining why the sitter chose that particular museum or artefact.
The competition closes on 31 May at noon, when a number of prizes will be awarded to the selfies with the most ‘likes’. Special offers will be provided during the month of May by various museums. Kick-starting this event is Heritage Malta which will be providing free access to its museums (except the Hypogeum, Ta’ Hagrat and Skorba) on Thursday 1 May.
More information about ICOM-Malta and the competition is available on the official ICOM-Malta Facebook page.
