The Malta Tourism Authority has recently participated at IMEX 2014, which is a renowned MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conference and Events) trade show. This was held in Frankfurt, where the Malta Tourism Authority’s German office was awarded with the “Business Diamond Award” in the ‘Destination’ category.

The MTA came out on top from a total of 12 other competing destinations and was awarded for providing a top-notch MICE destination product and for the implementation of innovative MICE strategies.

During this year’s IMEX trade show, the  our Maltese Islands was duly represented by the Malta Tourism Authority, Air Malta and a total of 20 co-exhibitors such as Destination Management Companies, hotels, conference venues and other tourism service providers. They took the opportunity to showcase the islands’ varied and highly professional meeting, conference, events and incentive portfolio. This year’s IMEX edition proved to be once again a very successful event – with a total of  more than 3,500 exhibitors which attracted around 9,000 trade visitors such as conference buyers and corporate event and travel managers from all over the world.

The “Business Diamond Award”  is given on an annual basis by German publishing house “BUSCHE“, which specialises on publications in the meetings and conference industry, together with the online conference portal “Buchungsservice 24”. The competing categories included hotels, location, destination, airline, automotive, service providers, communication and innovation. The voting process was overseen by an esteemed panel of experts in the event and travel industry, conference buyers, tourism industry representatives and editors of BUSCHE publishing house.
