Valletta drawn to meet Qarabag FK of Azerbaijan

Local champions Valletta FC were drawn to meet Azerbaijan’s Qarabag FK in the second qualifying round of this year’s competition.

The citizens are to play the first leg in Malta on 15 or 16 July with the second leg in Azerbaijan scheduled for 22 or 23 July.

Qarabag are one of the top teams in Azerbaijan and have been ever present in the country’s Premier League since its inception in 1992.

Europa League

There will be tough times for the three Maltese representatives in the Europa League.

Birkirkara and Sliema will be facing Hungarian opponents while Hibernians will be meeting opponents from Slovakia.

Birkirkara have been drawn to meet Diosgyoer while Sliema are to play against Ferencvaros. Hibernians have been drawn to meet Spartak Trnava of Slovakia.
