Prime Minister Joseph Muscat has used a private jet on 11 occasions in the past one and a half years to attend EU leaders' meetings.
Dr Muscat hit the ground running, using a private jet just a few days after he was elected in March 2013 in order to attend a European Council meeting on 14-15 March, according to information tabled in Parliament.
A private jet was used on five other occasions in 2013, in May, June, October, November and December.
In 2014, the PM used a private jet twice in March, once in April, once in May and once in June.
The majority of the trips were to Brussels, but a private jet was also used to head to Leipzig in Germany in order to attend a 150th anniversary in commemoration of Germany’s Social Democratic Party and to attend an Eastern Partnership Summit in Vilnius, Lithuania.
Dr Muscat was accompanied by members of his Cabinet, Finance Ministry officials, officials from Dar Malta and officials from his private secretariat.
