Former President George Abela has been appointed honorary president of the Malta Football Association.
Dr Abela acted as chairperson for the football association between 1982 and 1992, before he involved himself in politics.
The decision was taken during an MFA council meeting held today, after a proposal for his appointment was put forward during the association’s annual general meeting.
