“There is no nonsense with us, no sensationalism; what you see is what you get and each subject we treat, each guest we interview, we do with good intentions and with an aim to engage, entertain and inspire our audiences. At the very core of this programme is a team of good-hearted, hard working, strong will who will continue to prove that they are the best in their field.”
This is how Clare Aguis describes the core content of Isien In-Nisa – the populatr television show which is back on the small screen in October.
“This season, we are upping the ante of our show!” Clare exclaims excitedly, “To begin with, Pippa Toledo has designed a brand new set and we are also having an intimate stage which will be a platform to a handful of selected musicians that we wish to be part of our programme and who will definitely compliment us and set the mood to our 'feel of the day'.”

Ms Agius says that she and her colleagues – her sister Pauline and Claire Aguis Ordway - are constantly looking for good collaborations, and they love working with people who have the same passions and with whom they have a good chemistry. So some of the musicians will not only be there to make music but will also be involved in their discussions.
She goes on to say that the relationship that the female presenters have is at the core of the programme’s success:
“We treat each other like sisters who will have their arguments and disagreements but ultimately stick up for each other. We have a common aim and that is to enjoy ourselves doing the show and give our audience the very best of our abilities
We are there for each other but we’re not in each other's hair. We are all independent, strong-charactered women who have our own ideas; but somehow we make them work together and complement each other.”

Ms Aguis says that they are also blessed with a team of people whom they trust implicitly:
“Although we mainly choose our own clothes from our sponsors, we do have a fixed team of people who see to us week in, week out. These include our own hairdressers, Alex Carabott, Cyra and Lara Steer and our fantastic make-up artist Mateja Camille.”
Another new feature of the programme this year is that, for the first time, a man has been featured in the show’s promotional material.
“Let us just say that he is not going to disappoint!” Ms Agius laughs, “He is pleasing in more than one way but we are releasing his name and role within the programme in the coming weeks so let’s just hang on a bit more! We will also have a guest presenter to keep the number of presenters up to four, as we have in previous years and, yes some of them will be male. So our formula is evolving for, while it remains based on real friendship and sisterhood at its core, a male's perspective and opinion will be most welcome.”
Ms Aguis reiterates that the programme is definitely not only for women… and was never intended to be so.
“In fact we are proud of having a male following,” she smiles, “I would say that we are the opposite of a football match. While there the ‘dominant sex’ is a male who engages his woman to watch a game with him, our programme is ‘dominated’ by a female audience who entice their husbands to watch the show with them. The good thing is that they end up liking it and becoming fans!”
Ilsien in-Nisa will be airing on ONE TV every Thursday at 9.30pm as from 2 October
