Malta Independent Tuesday, 5 August 2014, 13:19 Last update: about 12 years ago

Rehearsals are underway for the premier of Ggantija II, an electro-acoustic musical work composed by Dr Mariella Cassar Cordina, co-founder of the Ars Vitae Ensemble, the group leading the Ggantija 2013 Project. The performance will be held at the music room of St James Cavalier on 6 August at 8pm.

Ggantija II will be performed by Tricia Dawn Williams, Gisèle Grima, Simon Abdilla Joslin, Alistair Attard and narrated by Sharon Bezzina.

Dr Cassar, together with visual artist Victor Agius, has collaborated with writer Immanuel Mifsud to create an inter-disciplinary project embracing music, visual art and literature, inspired by the Ggantija Temples.

After the musical performance a CD containing the music of the Ggantija 2013 Project will be given to guests at the upper galleries of St James Cavalier. During this event, a fully illustrated catalogue, including images from the Ggantija 2013 performance, installation views of the final exhibition and the publication of the literary works by Dr Mifsud will be donated to the guests. Dr Mifsud will also read his works written for this project.

Entrance is free, however, bookings are highly recommended through St James Cavalier by sending an email on [email protected] or by calling on 2122 3200.  The exhibition will remain open until 24 August.
