The Embassy of Malta in Paris launched its activities to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the Republic of Malta with the inauguration of Regret, a collection of works by Maltese contemporary artist Ruth Bianco at the Town Hall of the Paris 8th arrondissement. Regret is a mixed-media collage works and video-installation inspired by the song Je ne regrette rien immortalized by the French icon Edith Piaf. Ruth Bianco’s work focuses on Piaf’s tragic love story with boxer Marcel Cerdan, drawing on cinematography, fact and fiction.

In his introductory speech, H. E. Mr Vincent Camilleri, Ambassador of Malta to France said that along with the 50th Anniversary of Independence, Malta is also celebrating the 50th anniversary of excellent diplomatic relations with France established on 21 September 1964.

Regret was financed by the Culture Diplomacy Fund of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
