The Armed Forces of Malta were earlier today involved in a rescue operation involving a climber who fell and suffered fractures in her ankle in the vicinity of the Ghar Hasan.

Considering the difficult terrain, the AFM Operations Centre immediately scrambled the Alouette III helicopter that located the injured foreign woman within minutes.

Subsequently an AFM rescuer was winched down to the cliffs and provided first aid .

Soon after the AFM aircrew winched the woman to a safe area nearby where an awaiting ambulance transferred the injured climber to Mater Dei Hospital .
