170 directors, 120 actors and 190 filmmakers graced the red carpet of the prestigious BFI London Film Festival, which celebrated its 58th edition last weekend. Amongst the flashes and the glitz that accompanied the star-studded event, U-Film Malta's presence further cemented Malta's role amongst the household names on the international cinematographic and film-making stage.248 films rolled on the screens, tackling thorny social issues such as corruption, gang violence, honour killing and war. The event's climax aptly saw Brad Pitt premiering in Europe his new production, Fury, a World-War II action-drama. Throughout the Festival, U-Film promoted Malta as a premium movie location for any type of film production, attracting significant interest amongst the film makers present at the event. A number of meetings were organised in the margins of the festival, resulting in a number of new projects that are expected to take off 2015, subject to the necessary approvals. This is truly encouraging news for the industry, with more exciting prospects in store for the coming months.Besides promoting Malta as a destination of excellence for the film industry, U-Film Malta covers the entire spectrum of services required for successful filming in Malta, from the creative, financial to logistics and production.
