The director of a gaming company today was charged with misappropriating €800,000 from Everleaf Gaming clients and failing to pay €100,000 in licences and fees.
Austrian Jean Pavili, who was described as being the ultimate beneficial owner of Everleaf and another gaming company, Gold Man Gaming Ltd, was also charged with failing to notify the Lotteries and Gaming Authority of the relocation of the control system, failing to deposit winnings and failing to disclose all ultimate beneficiaries. He pleaded not guilty to all charges.
Magistrate Josette Demicoli granted bail against a deposit of €10,000 and personal guarantee of €10,000. She also upheld a request for his assets to be frozen to a total of €900,000.
Police Inspector Daniel Zammit prosecuted. Lawyer Giannella de Marco appeared for the accused.
