37-year-old Jason Sciberras is being accused of seriously injuring John Said, 59.

The incident occurred on 12 August, at around 10pm, when Sciberras threw a glass at Said, tearing his ear.   This occurred in Aphrodite Bar, in Triq Sant' Aristarku, St Paul's Bay.

Testifying in court, Said held that prior to the incident, he lent €20 to Sciberras, however he was never repaid. On 12 August, Sciberras was drinking at the named bar, when Said walked in and questioned why he didn't pay back the money he borrowed, if he had enough to purchase alcoholic drinks.

The two started arguing, and at a point, Sciberras threw the glass at the other. Subsequently, Said was taken to hospitalised, and treated.

Sciberras pleaded not guilty to the charges pressed against him.
