Preparations are currently underway for the annual Christmas market at San Anton School in Imselliet, l/o Mgarr on Sunday, 23 November - a festive fun day out for the whole family with a difference.
Wooden stalls are being set up, where you will find everything you need for a perfect Christmas, from traditional decorations, gift-wrapping, home accessories, giftware, jewellery, wooden toys, advent calendars, Poinsettia and Holly plants, chocolates, children's gifts, toys, gourmet foods, spices, festive treats, homemade jams, chutneys and many more original gifts and stocking fillers to impress your friends and family.
The final touches are being placed on Santa's Grotto where children will be able to meet the "real" Santa Claus, while children are rehearsing for their respective role in the live crib. A wooden stable has been purposely built for this crib in the school picnic area under a large carob tree. With the support of local farmers this stable will also house live sheep, lambs and of course a donkey on the day itself to transform the area into a typical nativity scene.
Children visiting the market will be spoilt for choice as they can listen to stories, write their letter to Santa, participate in Christmas Art and Crafts, jewellery-making and baking workshops. Bouncy castles and a Go-Cart track will also surely delight the little ones in the play area.
In order to ensure the festive spirit, all those present will be regaled with a performance by the cast of this year's traditional Christmas Panto - Pinocchio by FM Theatre Productions. Visitors will get the opportunity to meet the actors and also purchase tickets for the local production.
The Christmas market will be open from 10.30am to 5pm. Free entrance.
This is a San Anton School fund-raising event.
