MaltaRightNow has just published another of a series of recordings tied to the shooting incident involving the driver of Minister Emmanuel Mallia.
In this recording, Paul Sheehan, the former driver of the minister, who has been charged with attempted murder, is heard asking to speak to the minister urgently to let him know what had just happened.
"Let me speak to the minister, he is there at the depot," Sheehan tells a police officer at the control room.
In a previous recording, Sheehan had claimed that the minister was with him in the car at the time of the shooting. In this recording, he is heard telling the control room that the minister's daughter was with him.
The fourth telephone call took place at 9.02 p.m.
“Look, this individual rammed the minister’s car; I have the girl with me (referring to the minister’s daughter).
“So that you are aware, I fired two shots at him because he got away; I am in Gzira.” At this point it is not clear who Sheehan is speaking to.
A police officer at the control room is heard asking Sheehan if it is Glen at the end of the line. Sheehan replies it is PC533, the policeman. The control room police officer tells Sheehan that she would put him through the RIU unit police who were to go to the scene. Sheehan says that the RIU police have already arrived on the scene.
When asked by the control room who the RIU police members who arrived at the scene are, Sheehan replies “1359”.
“There is the minister at the police depot, I would like to inform him what happened because I had his daughter with me.”
Sheehan goes on to explain to the control room that the person he fired shots at had rammed the ministerial car and fled the scene and he fired two shots.
At one point the control room police officer is confusd and thinks for a moment that it was the person who rammed the car of the minister who fired shots.
“No, it was I who fired the shots,” Sheehan says, while explaining once again that the individual rammed the ministerial car.
The control room officer than asks him if this individual Sheehan speaks of did so purposely.
“He left the scene; I think he is dead drunk,” Sheehan says, adding that he chased him using the ministerial car.
Sheehan once again asks to speak to the minister. The control room officer tells Sheehan to call again later. The police officer at the control room tells Sheehan top calm down.
