Nationalist Party leader Simon Busuttil insisted on political honesty in his Christmas message, saying that in the past months there were several instances when the behaviour of some politicians led the people to lose their confidence in the country’s leaders.

He said he is daily meeting people who are expecting better standards of behaviour from politicians. “They’re right; politicians should be an example for others. People expect politicians to say what they mean, and not say it just to please. I am determined to work for you to have confidence in politics and politicians.”

Politics should serve to defend the common good, such as the environment. To do so, we cannot think of what we can attain, but also what we can give. We must think in the plural, not the singular, he said.
