Readers have reported snowflakes falling over different parts of Malta and Gozo although it has not been enough to cover the streets and fields as it melts away quickly.

Two days ago Italian weather agencies reported that there was a chance of snow over Malta but this was quickly dismissed by many, who claimed that the Maltese Islands have never seen snow.

However, the social media is this morning filled with videos and photos of a light snowfall around many localities. Some even managed to build small snowmen.

According to the Met Office the temperature today is 7 degrees Celsius although it actually feels like 3 degrees. A thunderstorm was predicted for today but according to the weather experts that could happen tomorrow instead.
