The total number of licensed motor vehicles at the end of 2014 stood at 335,249, up by almost 1% over the previous quarter, the National Statistics Office has said.
Of these vehicles, 79.3% were passenger cars, 12.8% were goods-carrying vehicles, 5.5% were motorcycles, while buses and minibuses accounted for less than 1%.
New licences issued during the period under review amounted to 4,782. The majority of new licences (80.7% of the total) were issued to passenger cars. Newly-licensed 'new' motor vehicles amounted to 2,015, (42.1% of the total) whereas newly licensed 'used' motor vehicles totalled 2,767.
